NRCT Announces Thai Inventors’ Success in Securing the Grand Prize and Multiple Medals at “The 12th International Exhibition of Inventions 2026” in Guangzhou, China

On August 27, 2026, the National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT), under the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI), held a press conference to celebrate the success of Thai inventors and researchers who received awards at “The 12th International Exhibition of Inventions” (IEI 2026) in Guangzhou, People’s Republic of China. The event aimed to highlight the achievements of Thai inventors and researchers while inspiring youth, innovators, and the next generation of researchers. Dr. Wiparat De-ong, Director of the NRCT, presided over the event, which was attended by NRCT executives, inventors, researchers, and award-winning participants at the Cultural Heritage Research Promotion Center, NRCT.
Dr. Wiparat De-ong stated that Thailand’s participation in IEI 2026 marked a significant achievement for Thai inventors and researchers in developing internationally recognized inventions and innovations. Thailand submitted more than 120 entries from over 60 public, private, and academic organizations and successfully secured major awards, including the Grand Prize, the highest honor of the exhibition. This achievement is a source of national pride and serves as an inspiration for youth, inventors, and young researchers to continuously develop their work for the international stage and translate knowledge into tangible applications.
The 12th International Exhibition of Inventions, or IEI 2026, was held from August 21–23, 2026, in Guangzhou, China, and organized by the China Association of Inventions. With support from the International Federation of Inventors’ Associations (IFIA) and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), the event featured more than 2,000 entries from over 20 countries, providing an important international platform for showcasing inventions and innovations.
Thailand won the Grand Prize, the highest award at IEI 2026, for “Mandibular Cutting Guide with Screw Hole Positions for Conventional Large Reconstruction Plates Using Reverse Screw Scanning,” developed by Dr. Warutta Kasemsan (DDS) from the Faculty of Dentistry, Mahidol University. The award reflects the capability of Thai researchers to develop high-potential innovations that receive international recognition.
In addition to the Grand Prize, Thai inventors received Jury Prizes for two innovations:

“Geoinformatics Platform for Analyzing and Forecasting Road Traffic Accident Risks by Health Region in Thailand,” developed by Assistant Professor Dr. Morakot Worachairungruang and team from Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University.

“Medical Gas Pressure Control and Warning System,” developed by Mr. Surasak Phasukrup and team from Saraburi Technical College.
Thai youth also demonstrated their creativity and innovation by receiving International Youth Prizes for three inventions:

“MindMeow: An Innovative Robot Cat and Application to Help Treat and Prevent Early-Stage Dementia,” developed by Mr. Jirat Thaithaweepaisal and Mr. Phasit Nimwongcharoensuk.

“Rescue,” developed by Mr. Natthaphat Charoenchaikorn and Mr. Sakworathat Akarathanacheewa from Bangkok Christian College.

“Smart Cane Innovation for Mobility and Safety Enhancement for the Visually Impaired,” developed by Mr. Phongpanot Kaew-on and team from Montfort College.
Following the press conference, the NRCT hosted a panel discussion titled “Beyond Borders: From Thai Ideas to the Global Innovation Stage,” featuring key award winners from IEI 2026 who shared their experiences and perspectives on developing Thai innovations for the international stage. The session provided a valuable opportunity for youth, inventors, and young researchers to learn from the real-world experiences of innovators who have successfully brought their work to the global stage.
The success of Thai inventors and researchers at IEI 2026 demonstrates the potential, determination, and dedication of the nation’s innovators, as well as the collaborative efforts of stakeholders across sectors in advancing Thai research and innovation onto the global stage. The NRCT will continue to support and develop the potential of Thai inventors by promoting opportunities for international exposure, fostering knowledge exchange, building collaborative networks, and advancing innovations toward tangible applications that create social value and strengthen the country’s competitiveness.
