NRCT Pays Courtesy Call on the Ambassador of Thailand to London Ahead of Showcasing STI Achievements at London Craft Week 2026
On 15 May 2026, the National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT), under the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI), led by Dr. Wiparat De-Ong, Executive Director of NRCT, together with Ms. Sirinporn Deawtrakool, Deputy Executive Director of NRCT, and the delegation, paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Nattawut Krishnamra, Ambassador of Thailand to London. The meeting was attended by Ms. Kritsana Chonweerawong, Minister; Mr. Charubhumi Ruangsuwan, Minister Counsellor; and Mrs. Ornwijit Chantrangsri, Counsellor, who warmly welcomed the delegation at the Royal Thai Embassy in London.
During the meeting, H.E. Mr. Nattawut Krishnamra and Dr. Wiparat De-Ong discussed collaborative approaches to advancing the creative economy and utilizing Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) diplomacy as a key mechanism for enhancing Thailand’s image and competitiveness on the international stage. They also explored the use of cultural spaces as strategic communication platforms to convey Thai identity through knowledge, research, technology, and creative innovation.
The discussion highlighted the integration of Thailand’s soft power with emerging geoeconomic and geotechnological dimensions in the global landscape, as well as preparations for major international activities under the concept of “Creative Life and Creative Heartbeat”. NRCT expressed its readiness to showcase Thailand’s research achievements, technologies, and creative innovations as part of strategic initiatives aimed at positioning the country as a regional hub for the creative economy and innovation, in line with national policy.
Dr. Wiparat De-Ong also emphasized NRCT’s role in promoting research across diverse disciplines, including science and technology, social sciences, humanities, and the arts. She reaffirmed NRCT’s commitment to creating opportunities for Thai researchers and research-based innovations to contribute to strategic international initiatives and collaborations in various dimensions.
On this occasion, H.E. the Ambassador expressed his appreciation to NRCT for recognizing the importance of research, science, technology, and innovation as effective tools for communicating Thailand’s identity and strengths to the international community. He also welcomed NRCT’s participation in London Craft Week 2026, noting that the exhibition of Thai research and innovation achievements would contribute positively to Thailand’s international image and foster greater cross-cultural understanding.
The Royal Thai Embassy in London further expressed its readiness to support and publicize future academic and international cooperation activities of MHESI and NRCT, strengthening Thailand’s presence and engagement on the global stage through science, research, and innovation.
