Young Thai Inventors Showcase Outstanding Innovations and Receive NRCT Special Awards at ITEX 2026 in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
The National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT), under the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI), presented the NRCT Special Award Competition to outstanding young Thai inventors during the 37th International Invention, Innovation and Technology Exhibition (ITEX 2026), held from 18–20 May 2026 at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC), Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
The awards were presented in recognition of the creativity, innovation, and international potential demonstrated by Thai youth inventors through their participation in one of Asia’s leading international invention and innovation exhibitions. The initiative reflects NRCT’s commitment to fostering the next generation of innovators and providing opportunities for young inventors to showcase their talents on the global stage.
A total of 40 outstanding youth innovation projects received the NRCT Special Award at ITEX 2026. The award-winning projects covered a wide range of fields, including healthcare and medical technology, smart materials, environmental sustainability, renewable energy, biotechnology, artificial intelligence, agriculture, food innovation, assistive technology, and educational innovation.
Among the award-winning projects were:
- Fluoride-Releasing Composite Resin for Secondary Caries Prevention by students from Princess Chulabhorn Science High School Phitsanulok.
- ChromoHeal: Smart Hydrogel for Infection Detection and Temperature Regulation in Diabetic Wounds by students from Princess Chulabhorn Science High School Phitsanulok.
- CHITOCAP: Controlled-Release Biochar Capsule Innovation for Sustainable Acidic Soil Restoration by students from Princess Chulabhorn Science High School Phitsanulok.
- Eco-Friendly Surgical Sutures by students from Princess Chulabhorn Science High School Trang.
- Constellation Learning Innovation for the Visually Impaired by students from Princess Chulabhorn Science High School Chon Buri.
- FreshSense: Biodegradable Smart Color Sensor for Monitoring Meat Freshness by students from Princess Chulabhorn Science High School Phetchaburi.
- Foldable Prosthetic Leg Prototype Based on Origami-Inspired Adaptive Structures by students from Princess Chulabhorn Science High School Phetchaburi.
- AI-Based System for Preliminary Skin Disease Analysis and Screening by students from Princess Chulabhorn Science High School Loei.
- Biocomposite Material from Sugarcane Bagasse for Water Pollution Mitigation by students from Khon Kaen University Demonstration School.
- EcoMyco PCB: Biodegradable Printed Circuit Boards from Mycelium Composite Materials by students from Montfort College.
- BedCare: Smart Bed for Preventing Pressure Ulcers and Heat Stress in Bedridden Patients by students from Montfort College.
- AI Voice Detection Application for Preventing Telephone Fraud by students from The Prince Royal’s College.
- Smart CPR Assistance and Emergency Data Recording System by students from Suankularb Wittayalai Rangsit School.
- Smart Shoes for Reducing Fall Risks among Older Adults by students from Sakolrajwittayanukul School.
- BeeWell House: AI-Assisted Stingless Bee Housing Design for Thermal Management and Predator Protection by students from Maesai Prasitsart School.
- Smart Planting Box for Limited Spaces by students from Saipanya Rangsit School.
- Smart Grease Trap and Emergency Fuel Briquettes from Waste Cooking Oil by students from Saipanya Rangsit School.
- Smart Essential Oil Spraying System from Lemongrass Waste for Coffee Berry Borer Control by students from Damrongratsongkroh School.
The award-winning projects reflected the remarkable creativity and scientific capabilities of Thai youth, addressing real-world challenges in healthcare, environmental conservation, agriculture, renewable energy, digital technology, and community development.
In addition to the NRCT Special Awards, NRCT also presented the NRCT Honorable Mention Award to participating youth inventor teams in recognition of their dedication, innovation, and active participation in ITEX 2026.
