“Yotchanan–Suphajee” Launch IP × Venture Rise Thailand 2026, Connecting Thai Intellectual Property, Research, and Innovation with Business Opportunities

On August 27, 2026, Prof. Dr. Yotchanan Wongsawat, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI), and Mrs. Suphajee Suthumpun, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Commerce, assigned Ms. Banjongjitt Angsusingh, Advisor to the Minister of Commerce, to preside over the opening ceremony of “IP × Venture Rise Thailand 2026” at Hall 8, IMPACT Exhibition and Convention Center, Muang Thong Thani. Held from August 27–29, 2026, the event served as a platform connecting intellectual property (IP), research, technology, and innovation with the business sector, entrepreneurs, investors, and funding sources, with the aim of advancing Thai innovations toward practical applications and commercialization.

Prof. Dr. Yotchanan Wongsawat stated that science, research, and innovation are vital mechanisms for generating knowledge, technology, and innovations that address national development needs. At the same time, translating research into practical applications requires a seamless connection between the research process, IP protection, further development with the private sector and investors, and market access. Such integration can transform knowledge into tangible economic value and social benefits.

Ms. Banjongjitt Angsusingh, Advisor to the Minister of Commerce, noted that intellectual property is a crucial tool for strengthening the competitiveness of entrepreneurs and the Thai economy. The development of research and innovation must therefore go hand in hand with IP protection and the creation of channels for innovators to access markets and funding. This will enable Thai intellectual property to be developed into income-generating and value-added products, services, and businesses that are ready to enter both domestic and international markets.

On this occasion, the National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT), under MHESI and led by its Director, Dr. Wiparat De-ong, assigned Ms. Sirinporn Deotrakul, Deputy Director of the NRCT, to attend the event. The NRCT organized a central exhibition highlighting its IP management mechanisms and showcasing three selected intellectual property innovations. The exhibition aimed to demonstrate the potential of Thai research and innovation while creating opportunities to connect these innovations with practical applications and commercialization.

The first featured innovation was the “AI-Smart Health Kit with Telemedicine System” by Asst. Prof. Dr. Direk Sueaseenak of Srinakharinwirot University, under the AI Robot category. It is a portable digital health service platform that integrates health data measurement with artificial intelligence (AI) to support the screening, monitoring, and prevention of non-communicable diseases at the community level. The system measures key health indicators, including blood pressure, heart rate, body temperature, blood oxygen saturation, weight, and blood glucose levels. It also provides real-time data analysis and health recommendations, together with a telemedicine feature that enables medical personnel to monitor health data and provide consultations remotely.

The second featured innovation was “Fat-Free and Low-Carbohydrate Egg White Noodles and Production Process,” or “Egg White Rice,” developed by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Sathaporn Ngamukote of Chulalongkorn University in collaboration with Thandee Innofood Co., Ltd., under the Food Tech category. This healthy food innovation transforms egg white protein into rice-like grains using technology that modifies the protein’s shape and texture. Its key features include being fat-free, low in calories, and rich in egg white protein. It can be consumed as steamed rice, fried rice, or boiled rice and can be stored for up to 18 months without refrigeration.

The third featured innovation was “Rainbow Rice” by Prof. Dr. Apichart Vanavichit of Kasetsart University, also under the Food Tech category. Developed through rice breeding, the innovation comprises five distinct varieties with different leaf and grain colors. All five varieties have been registered as new plant varieties, along with trademark and service mark registrations. The innovation also has potential for further development in nutrition, rice leaf-based products, and agro-tourism, demonstrating how agricultural research can create value and add value to Thai agricultural products.

The NRCT’s participation in “IP × Venture Rise Thailand 2026” reflects its role in promoting and supporting the practical application of research and innovation. The initiative emphasizes IP protection and management while connecting researchers, research institutions, entrepreneurs, industry, investors, and markets. This collaboration creates greater opportunities to transform research into innovative products, services, and businesses, generating economic value and sustainably strengthening the country’s competitiveness.
