HRH The Princess Royal Presents Scholarships and Awards for Women in Science and Technology at Chulalongkorn University

On July 17, 2026, Her Royal Highness The Princess Royal of the United Kingdom viewed an exhibition showcasing research and innovation supported through Thai–UK collaboration before presenting scholarships and awards for women in STEM at the Maha Chulalongkorn Building, Chulalongkorn University. Her Royal Highness also delivered a congratulatory address to three Thai women researchers in recognition of their outstanding achievements in STEM.
On this occasion, Professor Dr. Yodchanan Wongsawat, Minister of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI), presented an overview of the event's objectives and highlighted science and technology cooperation between the United Kingdom and the Kingdom of Thailand.
Dr. Wiparat De-ong, Executive Director of the National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT) under MHESI, also attended the event and joined in congratulating the Thai women researchers on their achievements.
The recipient of the Women in STEM Scholarship, supported by the British Council for master's degree studies, is Miss Patlita Thitithanakasempong from Rajamangala University of Technology Isan.
The recipients of the UK–Thailand Women in STEM Awards, for which the National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT) served as a member of the judging panel, are: 1. Associate Professor Dr. Chularat Wattanakit, Vidyasirimedhi Institute of Science and Technology (VISTEC) and; 2. Associate Professor Dr. Chadamas Sakonsinsiri, Khon Kaen University.
The UK–Thailand Women in STEM Awards recognize and support early- to mid-career women researchers in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), fostering collaborative networks and advancing joint research with UK institutions.
Supported by the British Embassy in Thailand in partnership with the Office of the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI), the initiative strengthens research and innovation collaboration between Thailand and the United Kingdom while promoting women's leadership in STEM.
As part of the award, recipients receive funding for a one-week visit to the United Kingdom to build partnerships and further expand Thailand–UK cooperation in STEM.
