The National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT), under the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation (MHESI), in collaboration with the International Center for Biotechnology (ICBiotech) at The University of Osaka, organized the academic seminar “UOsaka–NRCT Research Connect 2026: From Research Exchange to Sustainable Collaboration” on 29 September 2026 at the Center for Infectious Disease Education and Research (CiDER), The University of Osaka, Japan.
The seminar provided an opportunity for Thai and Japanese researchers to exchange knowledge and research experiences, strengthen research networks, and identify areas for future collaboration in research and innovation. As part of the program, young Thai researchers participating in the STS Forum Young Leaders 2026 by NRCT, STS forum Young Leaders Alumni, and NRCT Young Leaders 2026 programs joined the research exchange sessions and presented their research interests and areas of expertise alongside researchers from The University of Osaka.
The research exchange was organized through small-group discussions based on specific fields of expertise and research interests. These sessions enabled participants to introduce their research, exchange views on their areas of interest, and identify common research topics that could potentially lead to future collaboration.
The discussions covered eight research areas:
1. Biotechnology & Biomanufacturing
2. Bioanalysis, Biosensing & Cellular Technologies
3. Biomedical Engineering & Digital Health
4. Advanced Materials, Energy & Catalysis
5. Biomaterials, Food & Health Products
6. Plant, Agriculture & Environmental Sensing
7. Public Health, Safety & Governance
8. Computational Modeling & Engineering Systems
Through the group discussions, young researchers had the opportunity to exchange knowledge and experiences with researchers from The University of Osaka, gain insights from different fields, and explore areas of mutual research interest. The sessions also provided a platform for establishing professional connections that may contribute to future research collaboration between Thailand and Japan.
The participation of STS forum Young Leaders and NRCT Young Leaders in the event reflects NRCT’s commitment to developing the capabilities of the next generation of researchers and strengthening international research networks. The initiative provides young Thai researchers with opportunities to engage with international research communities, broaden their interdisciplinary networks, and identify research topics that could be further developed through future collaboration in research and innovation.
UOsaka–NRCT Research Connect 2026 was organized as part of the collaboration between The University of Osaka and NRCT to strengthen academic and research relations between Thailand and Japan, particularly by creating opportunities for young researchers to exchange knowledge, establish international networks, and explore potential areas for future collaboration in research and innovation.
