Connecting Expertise, Knowledge and Research Networks for Thailand’s Development

The National Research Council of Thailand (NRCT), under the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, Research and Innovation, promotes collaboration and networking among researchers, experts, organizations, and other sectors to strengthen Thailand’s science, research and innovation ecosystem.

Since 2023, NRCT has supported the development of the Hub of Talents and Hub of Knowledge as a mechanism for bringing together expertise, research networks, and knowledge in areas that are important to Thailand’s development. The Hubs focus on national priorities and emerging challenges, while strengthening collaboration across disciplines and sectors.

What Are the Hubs?

Hub of Talents

A Hub of Talents brings together highly skilled experts and multidisciplinary researchers from different sectors, both nationally and internationally, around specific areas that are important to Thailand’s development.

The Hubs provide a platform for experts and research networks to collaborate, exchange knowledge, develop technologies and innovations, and create solutions that can be applied to real-world challenges.

Activities may include research collaboration, knowledge and technology exchange, capacity building, expert networking, academic and professional events, and collaboration with government agencies, industry, communities, and other relevant partners.

Hub of Knowledge

A Hub of Knowledge serves as a center for creating, collecting, developing, and sharing specialized knowledge in areas where knowledge gaps remain or where Thailand has strong expertise and potential.

The Hubs connect researchers, experts, organizations, and knowledge users to develop and disseminate knowledge that can support policy, public services, industry, communities, and society.

They also support knowledge exchange across disciplines and levels, from local and national networks to international collaboration, helping transform research and expertise into practical knowledge solutions.

What Do the Hubs Do?

The Hub of Talents and Hub of Knowledge programme supports a wide range of activities that strengthen Thailand’s research and innovation networks, including:

Connecting researchers, experts, universities, research institutions, government agencies, businesses, and other partners to develop collaborative networks in priority areas.

🧠 Developing High-Skilled Talent
Strengthening the capabilities of researchers and experts and creating opportunities for knowledge exchange, professional development, and collaboration across disciplines.

💡 Developing Technology and Innovation
Supporting collaboration to develop technologies, innovations, social innovations, and solutions that respond to national and sectoral needs.

📚 Creating and Sharing Knowledge
Generating, collecting, organizing, and disseminating specialized knowledge to address knowledge gaps and strengthen Thailand’s knowledge base.

🤝 Connecting Research with Users
Building links between researchers and knowledge users, including government, industry, communities, and other sectors, to promote the application of research and knowledge.

🌏 Strengthening National and International Collaboration
Connecting Thai experts and research networks with partners in Thailand and abroad to expand collaboration and knowledge exchange.

📢 Knowledge Exchange and Public Engagement
Organizing seminars, conferences, workshops, training programmes, exhibitions, and other activities to share knowledge and promote wider understanding and use of research.

A Growing Network of Research and Knowledge

Since the programme began in 2023, NRCT has supported 70 Hubs of Talents and Hubs of Knowledge, covering a wide range of issues of national importance.

The network continues to expand through research collaboration, knowledge-sharing activities, training, conferences, technology and knowledge transfer, and partnerships with organizations in Thailand and abroad.

Recent Hub activities demonstrate the diversity of this network, ranging from AI, data centers and smart energy to nuclear energy technology, agriculture and food, medical and health research, environmental challenges, and other emerging areas.
